Last week!

Here it is! The last week of my internship. I have learned so much during my semester with the CTLD. I am so proud of everything I've accomplished and am so happy to be officially part of the team. My goals at the start of the internship were: I hope to apply my previous knowledge of ID theories and models into the ID work environment. In my coursework I dove into the theories and models that make up instructional design but I hope to make more real world connections to theories within a professional ID workplace and see how instructional designers incorporate models into their work. I achieved this goal for sure! I was able to call upon several ID models and theories in my day-to-day work in this internship. I was even given the opportunity to record a lecture for EDT 4060 about the ADDIE model, specifically the implementation phase. In this lecture I go over the several ways implementation is used as IDs, the process, why it's important, how it con

End of Nov.

It's been quite the doozy of a few weeks! With reviews coming in hot I've been hunkered down and extremely focused. It seems as if all I've learned has culminated in this review. It's been really liberating doing the reviews on my own but also quite intimidating. After finishing my first review I was asked to take over my team member's review while she's out so I feel confident in my skills being asked to tackle more reviews! My team has been really supportive of course during this whole process.

Seventh and Eighth week maybe Nine?

I've been working as a course developer for some time now and I have really been able to hone in my skills as an instructional designer with this position. I have more access to things I didn't when I was an intern so the job is much easier and smoother now. I've been able to deliver content and build so many pages in Canvas. I've taken over one course, a sociology course, that I've been building by myself and it feels awesome. I am more confident than ever in my skills now and I really can't wait to keep putting them to the test. My team has been so encouraging and helpful during my transition into this full time position. I can go to them with any and all questions and there is no hesitation to help me from them. I am excited to keep up the good work and contribute the most I can to MSU.

Sixth and Seventh Week

These past two weeks have been a lot of building in Canvas for me. I've been working on creating pages in Canvas from SME's powerpoints and resources. I've even been called on to help some other teams with their work. I officially start the Course Developer position on November 1st and I'm very excited! I am also quite nervous as I hope to have built up enough skills to prove myself in this position. I feel confident in my building skills and my skills in working with SME's. I've been having a little trouble balancing school and work but my supervisor has been very good about giving me time to work on school work so it's been a good shift.

Fourth and Fifth Week

Last week I waited patiently to hear back from MSU regarding my position as a Course Developer. During that waiting time I enhanced my ID skills as much as I could. I learned how to transfer latex files to html so we can make math formulas more accessible. I also learned a lot about organization and building by building up courses from other teams as well as my own teams. I have been able to present materials to SMEs that I have created and it has been great. This week I heard back on the position and I go the job! I will be a course developer at MSU on November 1st working in my same team! I'm so excited to push myself with this new position and really dive into the ID world. I feel nervous but very confident.

Third and Fourth Week Internship

These past two weeks have been more intense than my past entries. I've been given some more responsibilities such as building in Canvas, getting tasks assigned to me, etc. It's been really amazing to sit in on these development meetings but this past week I've been contributing to the meetings. I have been able to interact with SMEs and get their feedback on things I've built and created. It's been awesome getting feedback from the SMEs and having real world interactions with them about what we're building. I also applied to a Course Developer position at MSU and had the interview 9/28 this week. I think it went really well and that I was able to provide good answers to the interview based off the skills I've built since I've started this certificate. Even if that job doesn't work out, I feel incredibly confident in my skills and where I am headed in this career.

Second Week Internship

Second Week This week was very pivotal for me and the learning curve of becoming an instructional designer. This is where we got to the nitty gritty of working with our SMEs and getting a real sense of what they want the course to look like and if they are willing to let us help them with the building and design. This is also where I was able to get a feel for building in Canvas and working with the content of the courses. I remediated some powerpoints to pass standards. I also searched for OER options for some courses and transferred the content into Canvas pages. This has been such an amazing experience and I am so excited to keep going!
